The world of documentary filmmaking is about to get a little more star-studded. The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival has announced a world premiere for the film 'Kenny Loggins: Conviction of the Heart', directed by Tony-winning Broadway producer Dori Berinstein. This film will take audiences on a journey through the life and career of the legendary musician, Kenny Loggins. From his early days as half of the iconic duo Loggins and Messina in the 1970s to his iconic compositions for Hollywood movie soundtracks like Top Gun and Footloose, Loggins' story is one of talent, passion, and enduring success. The film's premiere at Hot Docs is a significant event, as it showcases the festival's commitment to celebrating diverse storytelling and providing a platform for influential figures in the entertainment industry. Berinstein's documentary, which also had a preview screening at the Newport Folk Festival in 2025, promises to offer a deep dive into Loggins' creative process, influences, and the personal convictions that have shaped his career. This is not the first time Loggins has been recognized for his contributions to music. He won a Grammy in 1980 for writing the Doobie Brothers hit 'What a Fool Believes' with Michael McDonald, and in 1981 for 'This Is It'. The Hot Docs festival, running from April 23 to May 3, is set to feature a range of other notable premieres and screenings, including 'The Tower That Built a City', 'TCB – The Toni Cade Bambara School of Organizing', 'A Fox Under a Pink Moon', 'The Oldest Person in the World', and 'Time and Water'. The festival's lineup is a testament to its commitment to showcasing diverse and impactful documentaries from around the world, and 'Kenny Loggins: Conviction of the Heart' is undoubtedly a highlight that will attract a wide audience.
